Offered here is a four page handwritten letter (on two pages of stationery with writing on both sides) of an extremely prominent and significant nineteenth century golf Hall of Famer, J.H. Taylor. One of Britain's great early golfers, Taylor was, along with James Braid and Harry Vardon, a member of what was called the "Great Triumvirate". When they dominated golf at the turn of the century. A long driver, his favorite club was the mashie, which he popularized. He won the British Open five times (1894, 1895, 1900, 1909, 1913). Penned to "My Dear Hugo" in black ink on two sheets of unlined stationery, dated New Years day, 1952. Both the text and signature grade "9/10". The correspondence comes on Taylor's personal letterhead bearing his North Devon, England address. The penning is desirable for its golf content which includes, "Sea Side Links in England". The stationery (6 3/4 X 8 inches) displays both vertical and horizontal folds and is otherwise in excellent condition. Auction house LOA from James Spence/JSA comes with this item.
