1959 Masters Tournament Pairings Sheet - Jack Nicklaus Masters Debut
This double-sided vintage golf ephemera item was issued for the third round of Jack Nicklaus' debut at the 1959 Masters Tournament. One side is titled Pairings and Starting Time and lists the groups for Saturday, April 4, 1959. The field includes prominent golfers such as Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Gary Player, Byron Nelson, Julius Boros, and Art Wall Jr., who ultimately won the tournament. The pairings list includes caddie numbers, scores for the first two rounds, and total scores leading into the third round. The top and bottom margins feature the printed instruction: WEAR YOUR TICKET PLEASE, WHERE IT CAN BE SEEN!
The reverse side features a detailed, illustrated map of the Augusta National Golf Club course layout. Each of the 18 holes is labeled with its traditional botanical name. The map includes a scorecard with maximum distances and par values for each hole, along with symbols indicating the locations of spectator viewing stars, scoreboards, concession stands, and relief stations. Spectator etiquette instructions from the club are printed at the top and bottom of the map side. Handwritten notations in ink reading McDUFF and LIONEL are present in the upper right corner of the pairings side.
