1963 Sahara Invitational Program - Jack Nicklaus Win #8
This is an official souvenir program for the Sixth Annual Hotel Sahara Invitational Golf Tournament held from October 1520 1963 in Las Vegas Nevada. The tournament was a sanctioned PGA Tour event with a record setting prize purse of 77777.77 which is prominently displayed on the front cover graphic depicting a golf club and ball. The interior contains biographical quote Meet the Pros profiles for several Hall of Fame golfers including Jack Nicklaus Gary Player Billy Casper Jr. Julius Boros and Don January. The publication includes official welcome correspondence from Nevada Governor Grant Sawyer Las Vegas Mayor Oran Gragson and hotelier Milton Prell. Detailed illustrated course layouts and scorecards are provided for the host venues: Paradise Valley Country Club and the Municipal Country Club. Feature articles detail the history of the tournament and the development of golf in the Las Vegas region. The program includes period specific commercial advertisements notably a full page back cover for Western Airlines and an ad for Anderson Dairy. Page 100 features a blank section titled For the Autographs. Editorial credit is given to John Romero as Editor and Reg Avey as Art Director with photography by the Las Vegas News Bureau.
