1965 Portland Open Program - Jack Nicklaus Win #17
Official printed tournament program for the 1965 Portland Open a PGA Tour event held from September 15ndash19 1965. The front cover features a color photograph of a golf course green and bunker with the Portland Golf Club clubhouse in the background. The masthead identifies the event as presented by Golf Enterprises. Page one contains a full page feature on defending champion Jack Nicklaus including a black and white portrait and a biographical profile detailing his career achievements through age 25 specifically mentioning his wins at the Masters U.S. Open and PGA Championship. The centerfold on pages 10 and 11 provides a two page illustrated map of the 18hole course layout with yardages for each hole accompanied by local advertising for Fields Chevytown. The back cover consists of a full page color advertisement for Jantzen International Sports Club sportswear featuring professional golfer Dave Marr alongside multisport icons Bob Cousy Paul Hornung and Frank Gifford.
