One of the earliest known souvenir flags produced for the United States Open Championship. This approx. 14 1/2" X 21 3/4" flag was sold out of the Shinnecock Pro Shop in advance and during the 1986 Open. Ray Floyd captured the Championship marking his third different Major(Masters, PGA, US Open),and fourth Major title in his Hall of Fame career. The nylon flag features blue and red coloring on a base white flag that features the Shinnecock Indian. This tribe was the original inhabitants of the area located at the farthest most part of Long Island site of the course. Original manufacturer tag is intact showing that it was made in USA, PERMA-NYL, Valley Forge. This seldom seen highly collectible flag has a slight center crease down the middle which does not detract from its appeal.
