The 'debut' and 1st's ticket/badge category has been the fastest growing in not only golf memorabilia, but all of sport - a long overlooked category of tangible items representing a time and place in which a significant event occurred. And while a handful of Tiger Woods' first PGA Tour start (1992 LA Open) and professional start (1996 GMO) have surfaced since the the newest and most aggressive market trend has taken hold, Tiger Woods' first professional win at the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational has often left collectors still searching - until now. This blue and white plastic 'CADDY' badge is encapsulated and graded VG-EX 4 by the discerning eye of PSA. While the win came only a month and change after turning professional, Tiger's first victory was no easy task as the challenging course saw Woods and Davis Love III enter a sudden death playoff to determine the victor. The event took place from October 2 to October 6, 1996. The rectangular badge is constructed with a blue background and white text. The front of the badge displays the dates October 2-6 1996, the tournament title Las Vegas Invitational, the access period Wednesday Thru Sunday, and a vertical Caddy designation. A gold serial number 00044 is printed in the upper right corner. The reverse side retains its original metal safety-pin fastener. The item is professionally authenticated and encapsulated by PSA. The grading label includes the text 1996 Las Vegas Invitational, Tiger Woods - PGA Win #1, October 2 - 6, National Golf Club, Badge, and certification number 129945077. The item is encapsulated and graded VG-EX 4 by PSA for valuation, presentation and preservation.
