A Collection of Ben Hogan Golf Memorabilia w/ Promotional Poster
An assortment of vintage and modern golf collectibles. The group features a large black-and-white promotional poster titled BEN HOGAN. NOW, AS THEN, THE NAME TO WATCH IN GOLF. The poster displays a photograph of Hogan at the 1953 British Open at Carnoustie, Scotland, and bears a blue ink signature transcribed as Ben Hogan in the lower right corner. The lot also contains a State of Nevada Executive Department proclamation folder in blue cardstock with a silver embossed seal. The internal document, dated November 5, 2009, is a Proclamation by the Governor honoring CHI CHI RODRIGUEZ and is signed in blue ink by Governor Jim Gibbons and Secretary of State Ross Miller with an affixed gold foil seal. Also included is a set of matted black-and-white photographic prints depicting Ben Hogan's golf swing, each bearing a printed facsimile signature; one print bears a printed credit to photographer Jules Alexander and references the 1959 U.S. Open Championship at Winged Foot Golf Club. A 1987 Ben Hogan Co. promotional brochure is present, showcasing the company's 1988 equipment line including Apex woods and irons. The collection is rounded out by three black-and-white publicity photographs of golfers Lanny Wadkins, Doug Tewell, and Mark Brooks, each with a typed adhesive label on the reverse detailing their endorsement agreements with the Hogan Company. Rectangular white price stickers reading $50.00 are affixed to the top left corners of the plastic sleeves protecting the matted prints.
