A Collection of Ken Venturi Vintage Original Press Photographs and Newspaper Ephemera
A collection of vintage black and white press photographs and associated newspaper ephemera featuring Hall of Fame professional golfer Ken Venturi, sourced from the Memphis Press-Scimitar archive. The collection includes a 1958 photograph of Mike Souchak and Ken Venturi in conversation at the Memphis Invitational, held at the Colonial Country Club. This photo is accompanied by its original newspaper clipping from the Memphis Press-Scimitar dated Friday, May 16, 1958, featuring the headline TALKING IT OVER and attributing the image to staff photographer Bill Leaptrott. Also included is a February 1958 photograph depicting Ken Venturi, his wife Connie, and William Clay posed in front of a white 1958 Ford Thunderbird. The third photograph, dated June 26, 1983, shows an older Venturi at a broadcasting desk with television monitors, likely during his tenure with CBS Sports. All items in the collection are linked by the handwritten archive reference number 80659 on the reverse. The 1983 photograph bears the Memphis Press-Scimitar Staff Photo ink stamp.
