A Collection of Vintage Professional Golf Press & Publicity Photographs - Harper, Barber & More
A collection of vintage black and white gelatin silver press and publicity photographs documenting professional golfers and events from the early 1950s. The collection includes portraits of prominent players such as 1950 PGA Champion Chandler Harper wearing a straw hat, Tommy Bolt, and Jerry Barber. These portraits feature handwritten identifications and numeric codes (155-54, 116-54, and 243-52) in the lower margins. One action photograph shows a golfer teeing off for a gallery with a handwritten inscription on the reverse reading Opening NCR Course - May, 1954, documenting the inauguration of the NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio. Additional photographs include a candid scene of three women with a trophy, a portrait of The Bauer sisters in matching striped shirts, and Peter Thomson in a plaid blazer holding a boxed medal. The portrait of Jerry Barber bears a photographer's stamp on the reverse for Fred Kuehn Studios, Chicago, Illinois.
