A Set of Four Antique Hickory Shaft Golf Clubs Including Tom Stewart St. Andrews Irons
A set of four antique golf clubs featuring hand-forged steel heads and wooden hickory shafts. This collection includes specialized irons produced in the early 20th century, notably featuring the work of renowned clubmaker Tom Stewart.
The first club is a mashie niblick. The reverse of the head is stamped SPECIAL and HAND FORGED IN SCOTLAND. It bears the retailer mark W. K. RAY CLEVELAND, O. and is marked MASHIE NIBLICK on the toe. The head features an impressed pipe trade mark and an oval mark reading T. STEWART MAKER ST. ANDREWS. Below the oval is the text T. STEWART REG TRADE MARK. The face features a dotted punch pattern. It is fitted with a hickory shaft and a dark leather wrap grip.
The second club is an 8 iron. The head is stamped HAND FORGED and MADE IN SCOTLAND. It features the same T. STEWART MAKER ST. ANDREWS oval mark and pipe trade mark with the text T. STEWART REG TRADE MARK. The toe is marked 8 IRON SPECIAL. The face is finished with horizontal line scoring. It is fitted with a hickory shaft and a dark leather wrap grip.
The third club is a sammy iron. The head is stamped SPECIAL and HAND FORGED IN SCOTLAND. It bears the retailer mark D. E. MINER DELAND, FLA. The toe is marked SAMMY. It features the pipe logo and the text REG TRADE MARK. The face has horizontal line scoring. It is fitted with a hickory shaft and a dark leather wrap grip.
The fourth club is a niblick. The head is stamped H. F. M. and NIBLICK. It features a rectangular logo containing the letters B I N, above the words WARRANTED FORGED and SPECIAL. The face features a dotted punch pattern. It is fitted with a hickory shaft and a tan leather wrap grip.
