A Sterling Silver and Wood Presentation Golf Trophy Keighley Golf Club Bryce Cup 1927
Vintage presentation trophy, dated 1927, features three miniature sterling silver golf clubs arranged in a tripod to support a vintage golf ball. The clubs are designed with textured wrap-around grips on the shafts and are mounted onto a circular, stepped wooden plinth. The front of the wooden base holds two silver plaques. The upper, larger plaque is engraved with the text Keighley Golf Club, 14th June. (1st Round) Bryce Cup. At the bottom center of this plaque are British hallmarks including the maker mark S Ld for Sanders and Mackenzie, the lion passant indicating sterling silver purity, the leopard head for the London assay office, and the lowercase date letter m for 1927. The smaller lower plaque is inscribed With the compliments of the Silvertown Co.
The trophy holds an original square-mesh pattern Silver King golf ball manufactured by The Silvertown Company. The ball is marked with red and black lettering reading Silver King and the number 2. The shafts of the miniature clubs also bear matching hallmarks. The wooden plinth is circular and shows a worn finish.
