A Trio of Vintage Masters Tournament Series Badges
A trio of vintage Masters Tournament series badges issued for the 1974, 1976, and 1980 events held at Augusta National Golf Club. These badges are constructed from textured plastic and vinyl with metal grommets and safety pin fasteners.
The 1974 badge is horizontally oriented with a green ground and red United States map outlines. Legible text includes MASTERS in large block letters, SERIES 1974, APRIL 11-12-13-14, and PRICE $30. The serial number 21688 is printed in blue within a white box. A facsimile signature of Clifford Roberts appears above the designation CHAIRMAN. The central white circle contains the tournament logo with text reading Augusta NATIONAL GOLF CLUB. This year marked the second Masters victory for Gary Player.
The 1976 badge features a horizontal red, white, and blue design with map outlines. Legible text includes MASTERS, SERIES 1976, APRIL 8-9-10-11, and PRICE $35. The serial number 21956 is printed in blue. It also bears the facsimile signature of Clifford Roberts as CHAIRMAN. Raymond Floyd secured the tournament win in 1976.
The 1980 badge is vertically oriented with a green and yellow checkered pattern. Legible text includes MASTERS, SERIES 1980, APRIL 10-11-12-13, and PRICE $48. The serial number 24521 is printed in red. This tournament was won by Seve Ballesteros.
The reverse of each badge contains printed terms of use. The 1974 badge features red text, the 1976 badge features blue text, and the 1980 badge features green text. Each badge is equipped with a metal grommet and a pin for attachment to clothing.
