Antique Cast Metal Figural Golfer Desk Thermometer
This antique figural desk thermometer is constructed from cast metal with a dark bronze-toned patina, likely dating to the early to mid-20th century. The piece features a finial depicting a golfer in a full follow-through swing, dressed in period-accurate attire including a flat cap and knickers. The figure stands atop a spherical body housing a horizontal drum-style thermometer. The temperature scale is visible through a rectangular window framed by cast foliate scrollwork, showing numerical increments at 50, 60, and 70 degrees with red triangular pointers. The word NORMAL is printed above the 70-degree mark. The unit is supported by a heavily weighted, ornate flared base with four feet, decorated with rococo-style scrolled and floral motifs. A blank rectangular plaque is located on the front of the base, intended for a presentation or nameplate. The underside reveals a central mounting nut and protective pads on the feet. No maker marks or signatures are visible on the object. 3 1/2" X 7"
