Arnold Palmer's Personal Classic Red/White Wilson Shag Bag with Letter
"...My old Wilson Shag Bag. I kept it on a peg down at the maintenance barn for discarded balls I'd used during practice and tournament rounds," Arnold Palmer writes to Hal Shaw, the President of The Babe & George Zaharias Golf Foundation regarding the extraordinary piece that lies in this lot. Obtaining personal items from Arnold Palmer has proven challenging over the years, as the lion's share of his personal collection has long been exhibited in a large memorabilia warehouse in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. This King's personal shag bag carries his name in prominent black script writing and was donated to the Babe Zaharias Golf Foundation in exchange for their "commemorative 'Calamity Jane' putter and the Ka-Bar knife" presented to Arnie. The late Arnold Palmer made the average sports fan of the 1950's and 1960's shift their focus to golf and Palmer when it started being broadcasted on national television. It can be argued that Palmer was the most impactful golfer of the 20th century. "Arnold Palmer" is found on the front of his personal bag, with "Wilson Sporting Goods" on the reverse. The piece shows usage, as Palmer himself said he kept it on a peg in the maintenance barn. This piece comes with that letter of provenance from Arnold Palmer.

Place your bids now as this auction will end at 9:00pm ET Sunday, November 15th with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. When placing INITIAL bid, you must agree to the terms BEFORE confirming your bid. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval). Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
