Astronaut Alan Shepard Signed Polara Golf Ball w/ 'Moon Shot' Date Inscription "2-6-71"
Alan B. Shepard, Jr. was not only the first American in space and the only of the original Mercury Seven astronauts to walk on the moon-he holds a "first" in the sports world as well. As a member of the Apollo 14 crew (the third successful lunar landing) in 1971, Shepard took a NASA moon tool and attached the head of a six iron, then proceeded to swing at a golf ball he had brought with, sending it "miles and miles" into the sky. The incredible feature of this Polara logo signed golf ball is that he inscribed the date in which he hit the shot "2-6-71." This signature and inscription are very clean and were done with care by Alan Shepard in black sharpie. This example is the finest Alan Shepard signed golf balls we have seen. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, September 15th with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
