Presented here is an original silver gelatin black and white press photograph depicting golfer Ben Hogan during a qualifying round of the 1953 British Open at Carnoustie Golf Links, Scotland. The image captures Hogan in mid-swing, wearing his signature flat cap and a dark v-neck sweater, surrounded by a dense crowd of spectators. The reverse of the photograph contains multiple identifying marks and documents. A typed press caption from International News Photos, dated July 8, 1953, describes Hogans play during the qualifying rounds at Carnoustie. Two newsprint clippings are affixed to the back, one with a red date stamp of JUL 20 1953 and another dated JUN 20 97. Other markings include a blue ink agency stamp for INTERNATIONAL NEWS PHOTOS NEW YORK and other minor markings. 9" X 7"
