Ben Hogan Signed 1956 Masters Tournament Saturday Ticket #654
The 20th Anniversary of the inaugural Masters Tournament saw Jack Burke, Jr. win his first Major Championship. Presented here is a third round Saturday Ticket #654, it is in a pleasing excellent condition. Only apparent flaws to this vibrant virtual crease free beauty are minimal with notation only for accuracy - two indentation one above string eyelid and the other along left border. Only the eighth example of a 1956 ticket we have offered in the history of the auction. What sets this one apart from the other eight is that this is the first time we have offered a single signed Ben Hogan Masters ticket from any year he competed. The autograph presents in black with 9/10 strength of signature. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the Hogan signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
Hogan seemingly always in contention in the 1950's at Augusta, displayed that same game in this Saturday third round over a course made more rugged than usual by strong winds. He posted 38 on the front followed by even pars on each of the backside holes for a 74. Which was bested by only three Hall of Famers that day (Mangrum, Snead and Boros).
Thank you to all of our worldwide bidders and consignors for your support this past year. Please remember all initial bids must be placed by 9pm EST Sunday, March 14th – The Golf Auction
