Ben Hogan Signed Official 1951 US Open at Oakland Hills Scorecard
Ben Hogan called Oakland Hills as the U.S.G.A. staged the 1951 United States Open Championship on the long narrow course, "the Monster". In his fourth and final round, Hogan would shoot 67 (one of only two rounds the field of 162 players would better par in the Championship). Hogan called it his finest round, he had tamed "the Monster", in claiming his third of four career U.S. Open titles. Offered here is a seldom seen official 1951 scorecard from the U.S. Open which contains pencil scoring inside. What really takes this relic to another level is a vintage pencil signature from Hogan himself. This signature has been reviewed by James Spence Authentication (JSA), and their certificate of authenticity comes with this lot. Back cover of this scorecard does show evidence of paper loss, most likely from mounting in a scrap book. This flawed area however does not detract from the wonderful vintage look of Hogan's autograph against scorecard from one of his finest career moments. Protected in plexiglass holder which can easily be removed should you wish a different type of presentation.
