Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones, Gene Sarazen & Francis Ouimet Signed 1953 USGA Ben Hogan Dinner Program PSA/DNA
This lot features a rare and historically significant fold-over banquet program issued by the United States Golf Association (USGA) for a dinner held in honor of Ben Hogan at the Park Lane Hotel in New York City on Thursday, July 23, 1953. The event was organized to celebrate Hogan's monumental 1953 season, during which he won the Masters, the U.S. Open, and the British Open, a feat often referred to as the "Triple Crown" of golf.
The front cover of the program is hand-signed by four of the most legendary figures in the history of the sport:
- Ben Hogan (1912-1997): The guest of honor and nine-time major champion.
- Bob Jones (1902-1971): The legendary amateur golfer and founder of the Masters Tournament.
- Gene Sarazen (1902-1999): A winner of seven major championships and one of the first to achieve the career Grand Slam.
- Francis Ouimet (1893-1967): The winner of the 1913 U.S. Open, credited with popularizing golf in the United States.
The signatures of Hogan, Jones, and Sarazen are executed in dark ink, while the Ouimet signature is in blue ink. The program interior features a comprehensive guest list organized by table assignments named after courses where Hogan secured major victories, including Augusta National, Carnoustie, Merion, and Oakmont. The head table, listed as the USGA Teeing Ground, confirms that Hogan, Jones, Ouimet, and Sarazen were seated together at the event. Other notable attendees listed include course architect Robert Trent Jones and television personality Ed Sullivan. The back cover of the program presents the evening's menu.
