Bobby Jones Original Wire Photo with USGA President Herbert Jacques - 1934 US Open


This 6" x 8" wire photo comes with original cut line photo description and press service stampings on its reverse side. Also present on the verso is the circular stamping that this wire photo originates from the collection of "The Sporting News", weekly United States chronicler of sports for over 100 years. Depicted in this clear image from Merion site of the 1934 U.S. Open are legendary golfer Bobby Jones and Herbert Jacques who was the President of the United States Golf Association 1933-34. Jacques as an official of the U.S.G.A worked out the specifications of the American ball, and was a pioneer in the world-wide standardizations of the rules of the game.
