Bobby Jones Type 1 Wire Photo 'Return to Merion' for 1934 US Open - Excellent Clarity
Four years after the great Bobby Jones conquered Merion Golf Club on his way to winning all four of the original major championships, Jones was captured in the gallery's tall grass looking on with his arms crossed and in a suit and hat. The accompanying caption of the news story that this crystal clear picture was used for is "The former American and British amateur and open golf champion - who won all four titles in one year, 1930 - returns to the Merion Cricket Club, scene of his former triumphs, to watch his one-time rivals battle for the national open crown..." There is a media stamp on the reverse from The Evening Bulletin Reference Library. The stern, focused look is that of calculation and common place for Jones during and after his playing career. 7" x 10 1/4"
