Champ Juli Inkster, Park (LA) & Others Signed 1999 US Women's Open at Old Waverly Flag
The 38-year old Julie Inkster set a tournament record that still stands, finishing the tournament 16 under par to win the first of two US Women's Open titles at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi. It was the fourth of seven total major championships by the World Golf Hall of Famer. The then oldest champ since 1955 is joined in penmanship by golfing greats and notables Annika Sorenstam, Betsy King, Nancy Lopez, Meg Mallon, Grace Park (set amateur scoring record at -5 prior to turning professional), Beth Daniel, Liselotte Neumann, and five others.
