Circa 1898 Ornate Crossed Clubs & Gutta Ball Sterling Silver Scorecard Holder w/ 5 Cards
This ornate Victorian style A. Webster & Co. sterling silver crossed clubs scorecard holder dates to 1898, the date noted at the top of the partially filled out scorecard in which it holds. Along with the time-period long nose clubs rendered, there is a gutta percha golf ball. Detailing is apparent in both of the clubs, including the depiction of multiple screws in the soles along with whipping lines. This would have been to carry the scorecard or scorecards (there are five of varying condition inside) for an upper class citizen or one with an immense passion for the game and thus budget dedication. The sterling silver hallmark is accompanied by 'A. Webster & Co. 60 Piccadilly' on the bottom verso of the scorecard holder itself. 7 x 2 1/4
