Circa 1928 Vichy La Grande Station Thermale Golf Railway Original Poster by Roger Soubie

Coloristically capturing the essence of the roaring (19)20's, a time filled with joy and prosperity throughout not just the United States but also Europe (just prior to the period's demise), does French artist Roger Soubie (1898-1984) in this exquisite, high-grade Vinchy La Grande Station golf scene poster. Like its advertising poster contemporaries it was meant to catch eyes, and lot clicks in this case, which the commissioned Soubie unquestionably achieved. Comprised using a welcomed loud, vibrant color scheme by dipping into both the warm and cool palates throughout the scene. The composition includes a pronounced foreground, of two flapper style lady golfers conversating in the bottom left corner, and middle-ground, featuring a pair of golfers with their patient caddy looking on, all in front of the picturesque mountainous seascape backdrop. The mountains are where Roger Soubie's hidden vanishing point is, the extension of the overhanging roof line and ground path diagonals for the viewer's perspective.

From the highly coveted travel advertising art sub-category is this tastefully framed circa 1928 'Vichy - La Grande Station Thermale Rail' poster print for your bidding pleasure. Artist Roger Soubie's main focus was travel advertising posters, also creating the French national version of the historical romance film 'Gone With The Wind' poster in 1950. 'Lucien Serre & Cie. - IMP. 19. Rue du Terrage, Paris.' location underlines the image. Finished off with a linen white matting and frame color matched to pull out the light on dark baseline writing, the highly alluring piece has been preserved to very good condition with a negligible blemish in the bottom left corner of the maroon outline to nitpick and measures 38" x 50" and is primed for prominent exhibition.
