Circa Late 1940's Bobby Jones Posed Follow Through Oversize 11x14 B&W Photo
Likely developed in the late 1940's is this never-before-seen Bobby Jones black and white post-swing photo boasting dimensions few of its contemporaries can match at 11x14. Welcomed, but extensive time lapse paper aging includes but is not limited to on the heavy stock: dual discoloration spots towards the top on either side of the image, verso foxing throughout the backside of the image and a gelatin like shine in the dark areas of the photo detailed in the fifth and sixth photos at the proper angle. While other photos capturing Jones in this dress are able to be found, this specific image from this point of view that includes a jacket clad gentleman with his hands in his pocket which Jones' driver head overlaps is not. Please inspect these accompanying lot photos for best understanding.
Golf's Babe Ruth, Bobby Jones was a career lawyer that co-founded the Augusta National Golf Club and had well-documented success in the game of golf as a life-long amateur. Merely mentioning Bobby Jones had an impact on The Masters would be selling him extremely short. He was The Masters, from building Augusta National Golf Club the way he envisioned doing it to starting the "Invitation Tournament" in 1934. The first playing was only four years of course after his Grand Slam year of 1930 in which he won the US Open, US Amateur, Open Championship and British Amateur.
