Collection of Vintage Golf Photography Featuring Jack Nicklaus Arnold Palmer and Gary Player at Firestone Country Club June 1965
This collection of photographic materials documents professional golf legends Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Gary Player, collectively known as The Big Three. The lot includes color transparencies, black and white negatives, and modern photographic prints. The images depict an event at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, dated June 1965. Three color slides are mounted in cardboard frames stamped with a red JUN 65 date. Handwritten annotations on the frames identify the subjects as Jack Nicklaus, A. Palmer, and G. Player. The location Firestone C.C. is handwritten over a crossed out Oakmont CC on each slide frame. One slide includes the vertical notation Big 3 Golf. The collection also contains several black and white photographic negatives on Kodak Safety Film showing action shots and portraits of the golfers. Accompanying the negatives are three black and white prints, which appear to be mirrored or inverted. Additionally, three color prints corresponding to the color slides are included, showing the golfers and the gallery at the venue.
