Francis Ouimet Signed 1947 Golf Writers Assoc. Annual Dinner Menu - St Andrews

This offering is for a 1947 Golf Writers Association menu that is signed by Francis D. Ouimet, the "Father of Amateur Golf" and winner of the 1913 US Open. Creating one of the most storied victories in golf history, Ouimet was victorious at his home course of The Country Club as Brookline. Famously employing his 10-year old caddy Eddie Lowery, images of the pair walking with the bag that day are looked back on when remembering that day. The dinner menu was for the annual event that took place in St Andrews, where Francis Ouimet was the frist non-Briton to be elected Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club. His signature appears in dark blue pen, with slight absence of ink while forming the "F." The signature is on the back of the menu under "Autographs" with other golfers and dignitaries in a clean row. Those signatures include Bernard Darwin, John Beck, Walker Cup member Charles Littlefield and two other guests. The front of the menu has a comical cartoon illustration with Ouimet being told "It's nine years since Ouimet!" "Notable Background to an auspicious occassion!" is also printed on the menu cover. It is 7 1/4" by 5 1/2." James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.

All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)

1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
