Frank Stranahan competed against a professional field once again. This time it was the $15,000 Insurance City Open contested in Hartford. After scores of 71 and 66 in the first two rounds, Stranahan made it count on Saturday's moving day with a blazing 65 to stay in contention. The 65 tied for the lowest score posted in the tournament by either a professional or amateur contestant. In Sundays round, Frank could do no better then a 72 which gave him a score of 274 five strokes behind champion Bob Toski's 269. For his tournament low score of 65 in the third round Frank Stranahan received the award offered in this lot with the following engraving:
