The Houghton Golf Club in Johannesburg would serve as the venue that week, with the 36-hole final match for a winner's check of 200 pounds. Eventual career Grand Slam Winner and extremely influencial golfer Gary Player would be awarded this runner-up medal engraved on the frontside "The Dunlop Professional Matchplay Championship" encircled by laurels. The simply stated tournament finish "Runner UP - 1957" is found on the verso above the four precious metal hallmarks. The 1 3/4" diameter medal is accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from Gary Player's grandson.
