Gene Sarazen Hugh Anderson and Harry Stevenson 1936 Signed The Argus Melbourne Press Photograph


Vintage black and white press photograph featuring golfers Gene Sarazen, Hugh Anderson, and Harry Stevenson. The image captures the three men standing in a row on a fairway during Sarazen's 1936 tour of Australia. The photograph is hand signed by all three golfers in dark blue-black ink across the bottom edge. The signature for Gene Sarazen is accompanied by the handwritten date 1936. The back of the photograph features a purple ink stamp for The Argus in Melbourne, Australia, including a copyright notice and a handwritten negative number T 8677. Gene Sarazen was a prominent figure in golf history, being one of only five players to win the career Grand Slam. This item documents his international play during the mid-1930s. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the Gene Sarazen autograph, and their auction house letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
