Gene Sarazen Signed 1987 'Vintage' Golf Illustrated w/Presentation Photos
Celebrating the 60th year anniversary of the 1927 Ryder Cup, Golf Illustrated issued this '1927' style cover in 1987 with both player Gene Sarazen and British Captain Ted Ray depictions. It was a 32 page free supplement that was signed in blue boldly across the top by The Squire, cover subject Sarazen. The 'throwback' magazine includes 1987 sponsor Johnnie Walker illustrated '1820' advertisement along with articles on Sam Snead, along with 'At Moortown: A Tale of the Iron' chronicling the 1929 Ryder Cup. Accompanying this Sarazen signed publication are four US Ryder Cup team presentation photos including the 1933 squad, Sarazen a 6-time international biennial matches participant. These are presentation photos printed long after the image photo was taken. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity (ALOA) comes with this lot.
