In the 1990's, while this year's new legendary starters (Gary, Arnie and Jack) were still competing, the legendary starters at the Masters were Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead and Byron Nelson. They combined to win six Masters titles: Sarazen (1935), Nelson (1937 & 1942) and Snead (1949,52,54). All three of their autographs in blue marker are present on the offered Masters scorecard free from any defects. Gene Sarazen was one of the world's top players in the 1920s and 1930s. He is one of five golfers to win all the current major championships in his career, the Career Grand Slam: U.S. Open in 1922, 1932, PGA Championship in 1922, 1923, 1933, British Open in 1932, and The Masters in 1935.
Sam Snead "Slammin' Sammy" was one of the top players in the world for most of four decades. Snead won a record 82 PGA Tour events including seven majors. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974, and received the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998.
Byron Nelson became the second recipient of the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997, and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974. James Spence Authentication has reviewed each of these three autographs and provide their letter of authenticity on the signatures in this lot.
