George Nicoll Leven Rut Iron with P. Wall Shaft Stamp


George Nicoll was a blacksmith by trade, and in the 1880's he started making hand forged irons. Well known golfers such as Henry Cotton, Brian Huggett, Dai Rees, and Vivien Saunders used his clubs. The Nicoll family distributed the clubs worldwide until 1982, owned now by St Andrews Golf Company. Here is a George Nicoll Leven Rut Iron with P. Wall Shaft Stamp with a small head and smooth face that remains in good condition as indicative of the accompanying lot photos. The previous collection's string tag reads 'George Nicoll - Leven, Fife (1861-1945) Began making clubs in 1881 with hand mark. One of the first 8 blacksmiths to mark his clubs. Early clubs marked "G. Nicoll Leven." Rut Iron c.1881. 36" Please inspect the accompanying lot photos for a detailed condition and dating report.
