Jack Nicklaus Signed 1959 Masters Tournament Final Rd Badge #4611 - Jack's Masters Debut!
Debuts have driven the thriving ticket category followed by moments and milestones. The first of Jack Nicklaus' 45 Masters starts came at 19-years old in 1959 as a Walker Cup Team player qualifier. Gaining admittance to see final round of play at Augusta National from that tournament, this Sunday fourth round ticket badge was signed in blazing black sharpie by Jack Nicklaus with perfect placement. The Golden Bear (cub) would card rounds of 76 and 74 that week to miss the cut by a single stroke. The rest was history as we know it. The Ohio State University collegiate star Nicklaus would go on to win the US Amateur that year at Broadmoor Golf Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado 1-up over Charlie Coe, two years junior his filing for professional status. A seldom seen pre-1960 Fourth Round Sunday badge in its own right, it appears unlikely that there is another 1959 Masters debut badge single-signed by Jack Nicklaus out there. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity (ALOA) comes with this lot.
