This vintage center-shafted mallet-style putter features an aluminum alloy head and a hickory shaft. The back of the club head bears the stamped script signature of golf champion Jerry Travers followed by the block-lettered address 1 LAUREL ST. HARTFORD, CONN. This design is recognized as the Schenectady putter style, characterized by its center-mounted shaft and mallet head shape. The club is equipped with a dark, leather-wrapped grip secured at the base with black cord whipping. The address 1 Laurel Street in Hartford, Connecticut, is associated with the Hartford Machine Screw Company, which manufactured golf clubs for various professionals during the early 20th century.
The item shows age-appropriate wear and patina. The wooden shaft displays minor surface wear and abrasions. The leather grip shows significant cracking, wear, and loss of original finish.
