John Dunn 1914 Schenectady Style Putter
This early 20th-century specialty Schenectady style golf putter features a heavy mallet-style head cast from lead, designed to promote a steady, pendulum-like stroke. The design and timing corresponds to the JZ model patented by John Dunn in 1914. The club is fitted with a traditional hickory wood shaft and a period-style leather wrap grip secured at the top and bottom with black adhesive tape. The back of the lead head is stamped with the characters P.A.T. MAR 24 14. To the left of the patent date is a single letter appearing to be a J, and to the right are faint characters appearing to read P E N. The sole of the head is stamped with the weight 11.5 OZ and a large, deeply impressed letter Z. The lead head exhibits characteristic wear consistent with its age and material. The hickory shaft remains intact with minor surface abrasions and a rich natural patina. The leather wrap grip is aged, showing visible wear and surface drying.
