Limited Edition MacGregor VIP TP63 Centennial Golf Iron Set in Display Case
A limited edition commemorative set of MacGregor VIP TP63 Centennial golf irons, presented in a custom wooden wall-mounted display case. The set consists of eight forged carbon steel irons. The club heads feature a distinctive bi-metal finish, achieved through a process of copper electroplating followed by masking and chrome plating to create a copper-faced appearance. The club faces include diamond end-line scoring. The irons are fitted with decorative crown ferrules, chrome shafts, and black wrap-style grips.
"This iron set was produced on a custom basis in 1963 only. And it remains an extrodinarly difficult, expensive and time-consuming set to make. The VIP TP63 Centennial irons feature an unique chrome and copper face with our diamond end-line scoring...," the plaque nameplate eloquently states. The limited edition #0178/1000 set requires a look at picture 10 in the listing to be completely appreciated. The MacGregor set of nine irons is un-hit and presented in its original display box. Visible markings on the back of the club heads include the MacGregor script logo, a red VIP logo, a red five-pointed star, and the model designations TP63 and Centennial. Both the club shafts and the brass descriptive plaque are engraved with the limited edition number 0078/1000. The dark-toned wood display cabinet features a green felt-lined interior with tiered wooden supports. A gold-toned brass plaque at the base provides historical production details. The reverse of the cabinet includes a manufacturer label for L. Morris Builders of Newport News, Virginia, and is fitted with two D-ring hangers for mounting.
