Limited Edition #126/240 Set - Eight Arnold Palmer My Eight Majors Bronze Finished Medals in Presentation Box
A limited edition set titled My Eight Majors, produced to celebrate the career achievements of Arnold Palmer. The set was commissioned for contestants and dignitaries at the 1987 Hertz Bay Hill Classic. It consists of eight high-relief bronze-finished medals, which can also function as coasters on the reverse. Each medal displays a profile portrait of Arnold Palmer in high relief depicting a different major victory, including the 1954 U.S. Amateur at the Country Club of Detroit, 1958 Masters at Augusta National, 1960 Masters at Augusta National, 1960 U.S. Open at Cherry Hills, 1961 British Open at Royal Birkdale, 1962 Masters, 1962 British Open at Troon, and the 1964 Masters. This is set #126/240 and they took over 1 year to produce. Each bronze medal is individually marked with #126 on its outer edge. The set is housed in a mahogany-finished wooden presentation box with a velvet-lined interior. The maker was the MEDALLIC ART CO. DANBURY, CT. The top of the box features an inset bronze-finished medal reading HERTZ BAY HILL CLASSIC 1987 with a portrait of Palmer. The interior lid is houses the book “The Turning Point”. Accompanying the set is a green softcover booklet titled My Eight Majors by Arnold Palmer, containing descriptions of each victory medal and their limited supply. Each medal weighs over a whopping 11 ounces of Bronze and over 3 inches in diameter. The original box measures 9 1/2” W x 7 3/4” x 4 1/4” High. Total weight is 9 lbs 13 ounces.
