'Golf Architecture in America: Its Strategy and Construction' by George C. Thomas, Jr. First Edition and published in 1927 the times-mirror press. Hardcover, leather bound. This beauty has been signed by the author’s daughter to noted Golf Course Architect Ted Robinson! Any fan of golf, the architecture, or both would need this book as a cornerstone of their collection. Illustrated throughout and contains many early pictures of places such as Pine Valley. George Thomas Jr. was born to a wealthy banking family in Philadelphia in 1873 and died in Beverly Hills in 1932. Best known for the three world-class courses he designed in Los Angeles: Bel-Air, Los Angeles Country Club, and Riviera. This book was made out to and was presumably housed in the personal library of course architect Ted Robinson. Robinson (1923-2008) designed north of 160 golf courses, primarily in the western region of the United States, Mexico, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia. He was a trailblazer in using the water hazard, water features and was anointed the 'King of Waterscapes.' Very good condition. Please refer to the photos for a more detailed auction report.
