Johnny Farrell Vintage Signed 3x4 Cut
Johnny Farrell will always be remembered as the player who beat Bobby Jones when he was almost unbeatable. This momentous victory came by one stroke in a 36-hole playoff that decided the United States Golf Associations Open Championship in 1928. While Jones was the best amateur of the time, Farrell was voted the best professional golfer of 1927 and again in 1928. In this span he won six consecutive tournaments (long before there was Nelson and 11).This play made him an easy selection for the first three United States Ryder Cup teams in 1927,29 and 31. Farrell's autograph is offered here in fountain pen on a vintage album page with "Best Wishes" inscription. This autograph is accompanied by a 9 1/2" x 8" black and white reproduced photo of Farrell's swing. James Spence Authentication (JSA) provides authenticity with this lot.
