Jack Nicklaus Signed 1959 The Walker Cup Program
In May of 1959, Jack Nicklaus traveled as a 19-year-old Ohio State Freshman traveled to Scotland with the United States team to compete in the Walker Cup matches against Great Britain held at a very fast playing Muirfield. U.S. team member Harvie Ward always up for a good time gave each of his teammates nicknames with Nicklaus carrying the tag "Snow White", Ward did not let up on himself carrying the nickname ("E. Mickey Mouse"). The relaxed mood around the team carried through to victory in what many call the finest U.S. squad assembled. Nicklaus was 2-0-0 winning in foursomes and easily winning a singles match 5 & 4. This lot features an early career offering for Jack Nicklaus in the form of an Excellent condition measuring 6" x 9 1/2" program from the matches in Scotland. Jack has added a "10" strength of signature autograph to the cover of this program in black sharpie. James Spence Authentication (JSA) provides a letter of authenticity with this lot.
