1926 Royston Golf Club Medal Competition Sterling Trophy
The Royston Golf Club lays claim to being one of the oldest 18 hole courses in the UK, preceded by only by The Old Course, Montrose, Leven and Lundin. Royston Golf Club plays on a golf course first laid out (unofficially) on Therfield Heath in 1869. it was abandoned in 1871 then resurrected in 1892 when the current Royston Golf Club was established. This impressive 5 ¼ “ chalice trophy features two crossed clubs adorning the stem. The engraving reads “Royston Golf Club, Medal Compettion, E. A. Rose. O.B.E. , 1926. It is hallmarked for Birmingham in 1924. Nice sterling display trophy from one of the oldest 18 hole courses in the UK.
