2008 Sports Illustrated US Open Preview Belonging to Kultida Woods - Tiger's Mother
With brilliant clutch putting Tiger Woods willed himself into an 18 hole playoff at the 2008 U.S. Open, and again his deft skills on the green pulled out victory in the Monday playoff. It marked Tiger's third U.S. Open Championship and his 14th Major. On property bordering the course is The Lodge at Torrey Pines it was at this property that Tiger Woods would stay each time he competed at the PGA Tour's yearly stop known as the Buick and the '08 U.S. Open. The Hotel Manager at The Lodge from 2003 to 2009 was William Friese, our consignor (Please see photo of Mr. Friese and Tiger by plane, along with his letter of provenance on this and many other items from this time period in this auction). Through this relationship Mr. Friese acquired this copy of the Sports Illustrated 2008 U.S. Open addressed to and brought to the Open that year by Kultida Woods..A copy of Mr. Friese's signed and dated letter of provenance will come with this one-of-a-kind lot.
