1966 & 1976 PGA Championship Programs - Firestone & Congressional - Binded
This lot presents programs from the 1966 (Firestone) and 1976 (Congressional) PGA Championship tournaments, binded together beautifully by W. Albert Heizmann, Jr. The programs are in excellent condition. Al Geiberger won his lone major title at the 1966 PGA Championship. An interesting anecdote about the tournament was that it was scheduled to be played at Columbine Country Club, but a flash flood of the South Platte River in June 1965 left the course significantly damaged and forced the tournament to be moved to Firestone, the scheduled location for the 1967 tournament. The courses swapped years they would host. 1970 PGA Championship winner Dave Stockton claimed his second major in 1976 by sinking a 15-foot putt to save par on the final hole to finish one stroke ahead of Ray Floyd and Don January.
