A photo of early 1900s golfer John J. McDermott, Jr., taken by famed photographer Paul Thompson is featured in this lot. McDermott remains the younger golfer to ever win the U.S. Open, and the first American, when he won the tournament in 1911, at age 19. He defended his title by winning the 1912 U.S. Open as well. The photo was stamped from the Studio of Paul Thomson, circa 1910 to 1920. Stamp is on bottom right or photo. This photo of McDermott remains in great condition, as can be seen in the photos provided.
