1893 'Golfing' Book by Horace Hutchinson - 1st Edition
A truly vintage item offered in this lot, a 1893 'Golfing' book by English amateur golfer Horace Hutchinson, who played in the late 19th century into the early 20th century. The first edition "Oval" series of games edited by C.W. Alcock. London, George Routledge & Sons, Limited. Broadway, Ludgate Hill, Manchester and New York, 1893. Hutchinson won the 1886 and 1887 Amateur Championships and three top-10 finishes in the Open Championship before turning to the typewriter and becoming a prominent writer of books on golf and other sports themes. As you may expect from a book dating back to the 1890s, this book shows signs of age but still presents well.
