1953 'Bobby Locke on Golf' Book by Bobby Locke with Dust Jacket

Country Life Limited. 2-10 Tavistock Street London, W.C. 2. Printed in Great Britain by Vandyck Printers Limited, Bristol and London. A fascinating look at Locke who many consider to be the greatest putter of all time. Comes with seldom seen clean dust jacket. Before turning to writing, Locke won the Open Championship four times (1949, 1950, 1952, and 1957) and was considered a controversial player in golf and was banned by the PGA for a dispute over playing commitments or for being too good, depending on who you ask. With growing resentment towards him from fellow PGA players, he was banned and 1948 Masters winner Claude Harmon once stated, without prompt, that "Locke was simply too good. They had to ban him." Although the ban was lifted in 1951, Locke chose not to return to play in the U.S. other than for a few appearances. This book remains in great condition.
