Set of Custom Built Hubby Habjan Irons
The late Rudolph "Hubby" Habjan leaves behind a set of custom built irons. Habjan unfortunately passed away early this month, but his legacy as the ultimate golf professional and as a pioneer of creating custom clubs. He served as secretary-treasurer and eventually president of the Illinois PGA in 1973, as well as taking part on several PGA of America panels, including ten years with the rules committee and nearly 20 years with the emblems and specifications committee. Some major accolades for Hubby include his time as vice president of the PGA from 1974-1976 and being voted the PGA's Golf Professional of the Year in 1965. Habjan took over as Onwentsia Club's (Lake Forest, Ill.) head golf pro in 1955, a job he would hold until his retirement in 1997. During his career, he really separated himself as a custom club maker, ultimately being elected to the Professional Club Makers Hall of Fame in 1998. He consulted for Tommy Armour Golf and for a division of the Brunswick Corporation. The iron set presented in this lot are in good condition.
