Turnberry 'The Ailsa Course' Pewter Golf Flask - Excellent Condition
Here we have a good condition pewter golf flask depicting the layout of the storied Ailsa course. The flask was made in Sheffield, England and displays the hole layout on the front of the item, with a scorecard featured on the backside. The tankard stands 5 1/8" tall with a bottom diameter of 4 1/8". Top diameter is 3 1/4". Above the course layout on the front of the flask it reads:
A golf course was established at Turnberry in 1908
but was used for military purposes during both World Wars
The course was re-designed in the 1930's and again in 1951 to
a Mackenzie Ross design. The Ailsa course staged its first
Open Championship in 1977
