1972 54th PGA Championship at Oakland Hills Signed Player Registration List - 118 Autographs - JSA ALOA
Oakland Hills Country Club, Birmingham, MI, August 3-6, 1972 was the site of that year's PGA Championship. This event like all Major Championships in golf has a formal registration process which each contestant must go through before hitting their initial tee shot. A long standing tradition during registration is the signing of a document known as a composite which contains the autograph of each player that participated in the event.
It is unheard of, until this consignment from the PGA itself that one of these cherished composites would be made available to the collecting community. It is signed by the presiding PGA Officers and 118 players which participated. A virtual who's who of golf over many decades. It is highlighted by 1972 PGA champion Gary Player and fellow Hall of Famers Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, Gene Sarazen, Jack Nicklaus, Chick Evans, Dow Finsterwald, Vic Ghezzi, Lanny Wadkins, Johnny Miller, Billy Casper, Jackie Burke Jr., Lee Trevino, Tommy Bolt, Denny Schute, Doug Ford, David Graham, Deane Beaman, Chi Chi Rodriquez, Hale Irwin, Ray Floyd and more than a hundred more! Framed and matted, this piece of golf history measures 29" x 23". Overall excellent condition with minor discoloration to ink. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed these signatures, and their document of authenticity will come along with this item to the winning bidder. It will also come with an additional letter of authenticity from the PGA (see image with lot), proclaiming that this item comes from their collection.
